What a Difference 5 Years Makes

I told you I was feeling nostalgic. Kaden has been in our lives for 5 years 3 months and 26 days. I try and look back on a time when he wasn't here and honestly I can't remember. Kaden in our lives changed from a couple into a family. Kaden was the best baby in the world. He was a great sleeper (at 3 weeks old he was sleeping 10pm-10am and shortly after that he was sleeping 8:45pm-10am I mean he was a GREAT sleeper). He took 2 naps a day each consisting of 3 to 4 hours. One of the many things I can say about Kaden is he was and is a really good hard sleeper (one of the things he gets from me). Kaden was such a calm baby, he rolled with the flow. He was on a schedule super early, but if it ever got interrupted he just went with it. I think that is what has helped him be the well adjusted kid he is today. Kaden rolled over at 2 weeks 5 times and then he was rolling over for good at 5 months. He would only roll over if Corey and I were out of the room. We had to video tape him just to see him do it. He walked at 9 months and was running at 9.5 months. Kaden was and has always been a daddy's boy. He idolizes his daddy to the fullest. I love their bond it is something that hopefully will never be rocked. It is amazing to see the smile Kaden gets when his daddy comes home or surprise him in any way. I must be honest - I have been jealous of their special bond. Sometimes it feels like I have entered into a no girls allowed tree-house, but to see their bond grow over the years I also feel so very blessed to have be able to witness it. It is a bond like I have never seen before. Kaden has always been an observer and it started when he was an infant. He would just stare at people, he just loved to people watch. I remember this one story: We were at a church function and our associate pastor John was talking to Kaden (Kaden was 9 months) and Kaden was just watching him and John kind of freaked out, saying "Man he just stares into your soul". This story always cracked me up because Kaden always had these amazing big brown eyes that love to see everything. As Kaden grew up he became a funny little boy that loved to make you smile. He was a great kid and just an easy going kid. We definitely had times where I was praying it was a phase because he would act out and wouldn't listen, but I new (and prayed) that deep down he was a great kid. Oh and did I mention I was right. Kaden, like every kid, has his faults but they are definately sugar coated with all his amazing qualities. I love this sweet kid. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us. He will be amazing to watch as he grows. I posted pictures of Kaden at every Halloween for the past 5 years.

I am so glad that you got a case of nostalgia. I love reading about our precious little grandsons. God has given us the best grandkids in the whole world and we are so blessed to be able to watch them grow up into godly people.
Each one has their own unique personalities that make each of them so special.
I love seeing the bond my two oldest grandchildren have with their dads. I am so happy to see that bond...but I was wondering if Kaden was ever going to let others do things for him & with him. His favorite words were: "Dad do it." I can remember where I was the first time he let me into his world more. We were sitting at In-n-Out after Gramma Mary's memorial service and Kaden wanted to eat at my table with me!!!!! I was soooooo excited. That was a first. And there were the times that Grampa & Kaden went to the pond at San Diego State to see the turtles. It was a fun adventure for them to share. We love you Kaden and we are looking forward to many more adventures together with you & Kaleb.
